The Hafeet Rail Link will improve connectivity between ports, manufacturing hubs and key markets while supporting the sustainability and carbon neutrality goals of both nations.

SYSTRA has recently been awarded the contract to provide project management support for the Abu Dhabi - Sohar Railway, linking the United Arab Emirates with the Sultanate of Oman.

The United Arab Emirates and the Sultanate of Oman will soon be linked for the first time by the Hafeet Rail, an approximately 300km rail link. SYSTRA teams from the UAE and Oman will be responsible for the Project Management & Engineer Consultancy (PMEC). This involves managing and supervising the implementation of the project for Hafeet Rail.

„This contract massively increases our footprint in Oman, hopefully opening the door for many more projects there,“ said Esmaeil Ghahremani, Oman Vice President, SYSTRA DB&I.

Supporting both countries' efforts towards sustainability and carbon neutrality, this rail network between the UAE and Oman will improve connectivity between sea and land ports, manufacturing facilities and key markets. The Hafeet Rail link will be connected to the Etihad Rail network, which serves all seven of the United Arab Emirates. The network will accommodate passenger trains and, most importantly, freight trains.
