MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company, through its logistics division MEDLOG, has initiated the development of a new multimodal hub in the Paris region.

The MEDLOG Inland Terminal Paris-Bruyères is part of a larger renovation effort at the TN MSC site in Le Havre, aimed at providing better rail and barge connections for importers and exporters.

This project is integrated into an investment initiative by MSC’s port investment group, TIL, to enhance Le Havre’s status as a key gateway to North West Europe. The initiative, expected to handle 5 million TEUs annually by 2027, will create over 1,000 jobs. HAROPA PORT selected TIL for the site in 2022 following a competitive tender process.

The MEDLOG Inland Terminal Paris-Bruyères will support these improvements by providing infrastructure that encourages the decarbonization of logistics. The terminal aims to shift the transportation of goods from road to rail and barge, offering direct access to the trading hub and its hinterland. This approach reduces road miles and associated carbon emissions, allowing trucks to handle only last-mile connectivity.

Upon completion in 2024, the terminal will enable MSC and MEDLOG to offer various services typically found in port terminals, such as container maintenance and repair, liquid cargo solutions, project cargo, and container reconditioning for food exports. This setup will streamline container evacuation with secure end-to-end control from Le Havre to Paris-Bruyères, eliminating the need for intermediaries and enhancing operational efficiency.

The development of this terminal aligns with HAROPA PORT’s goal to establish a green logistics corridor along the Seine, contributing to the economic and environmental goals of the region.
