The contract includes inspections, upgrades, and replacements of tracks, bridges, tunnels, and other infrastructure to ensure reliability for passenger and freight services.

Adif has launched a tender for the maintenance of tracks and infrastructure (bridges, viaducts, tunnels, etc.) on all railway lines of the conventional network (10,300 km) and the metric network (1,200 km) for the next four years, with the possibility of extension, for a total amount of 660 million euros.

The contract will replace the current one when it expires. It will guarantee the availability and reliability of the railway lines used for local, medium and long-distance conventional passenger and freight transport. The contract provides for cyclical maintenance work. This means that the tracks, points, bridges and tunnels will be continuously inspected and monitored. It also includes strengthening, adapting and replacing track elements, as well as improving the infrastructure at the points identified during the inspections.

Adif will award the contract in six lots. Each lot corresponds to a different geographical area. It also includes supplying the materials and track required. The track and infrastructure maintenance contract is in addition to other contracts that Adif has in force for the maintenance of other equipment and systems that make up the conventional rail network, such as electrification or signalling, with the appropriate specialized equipment and machinery.
