Bertschi has commenced operations at the newly completed Antwerp Zomerweg Terminal (AZT) in Belgium.

Located within Europe's largest integrated chemical cluster, the terminal specializes in storing dangerous goods (DG) and non-DG products in tank containers, offering trimodal services via rail, barge, and truck.

Spanning 60,000 square meters, AZT is designed for high-capacity chemical logistics, accommodating over 2,500 TEUs in containers, including 1,290 TEUs specifically allocated for DG products. The facility is equipped with advanced safety features such as fire-resistant zones, redundant fire pumps, and a remotely operated gantry crane to ensure secure operations.

AZT is positioned across from Bertschi’s Antwerp subsidiary and adjacent to their established Plastics Hub, the terminal enhances intermodal options with four rail sidings of 650 meters each, capable of handling full trains. This setup facilitates the movement of goods between storage, barge, rail, and truck, providing a seamless flow from overseas origins to end destinations throughout Europe.

AZT serves as a hub for imports and exports, offering barge services from the deep-sea port through a neighboring provider. The terminal provides bonded storage services and is permitted to store DG products of ADR classes 3, 4.1, 5.1, 5.2, 6.1, 8, and 9. It also features 60 heating slots with a high level of process automation for products requiring temperature control.
