The terminal, situated in Nymburk, around 60 km north-east of Prague, is scheduled for completion in 2026, and is intended to provide open access for users.

Construction has begun on a new intermodal terminal located in the northern industrial zone of Nymburk, near the Nymburk main railway station. The project, situated on a 7-hectare site, aims to support combined rail and road transport operations by enabling container transshipments and offering space for container storage. The terminal is being developed by MEDLOG Transport & Logistics and ČD Cargo, with HOCHTIEF CZ overseeing the construction and VIAMONT Servis as a partner.

Its design includes rail and road connections that integrate into the existing transportation infrastructure. According to project details, the terminal's location was chosen for its proximity to key transport corridors, including the I/38 bypass road.

A long-standing concept in progress

The idea of establishing a logistics hub in Nymburk has been under consideration for decades. Earlier plans included a multimodal terminal connecting road, rail, and water transport along the Elbe River. While those proposals never materialized, this new terminal has progressed further than previous attempts.

The joint venture responsible for the development, Terminál Nymburk, was formed in early 2023 by ČD Cargo and Medlog Czech Republic. The project aligns with regional transport goals and seeks to shift freight transport from road to rail, alleviating pressure on heavily utilized local road networks. However, the municipality of Nymburk has outlined conditions to prevent additional strain on existing urban infrastructure, emphasizing the importance of connecting the terminal to bypass routes.

Industrial zone background

The northern industrial zone of Nymburk spans approximately 120 hectares and already hosts several major companies, including Changhong and Nymwag. The zone has been identified as a potential site for new investments, with plans for additional facilities under consideration. Nymburk has long been an important railway crossroad in Czechia, including ČD Cargo’s marshalling yard, the second busiest in Czechia.
