Rail Traction Company (RTC) has entered into a leasing agreement with Akiem for three Siemens Eurosprinter 189 locomotives.
Akiem has been present in the Italian locomotive leasing market since 2009, providing a range of traction solutions, including diesel shunting locomotives and electric models such as TRAXX DC2, DC3 with Last Mile, TRAXX MS2, Eurosprinter, and Vectron. The agreement with RTC extends Akiem’s presence in the Italian market with additional interoperable locomotives.
RTC, based in Bolzano, was founded in 2000 and operates international freight services across key European corridors. The company is part of a broader group alongside Lokomotion and InRail under the ownership of Autostrada del Brennero, a major player in Italian rail freight transport. The Eurosprinter 189 locomotives leased from Akiem will support RTC’s capacity to manage freight flows along corridors such as the Rhine-Alpine, Rhine-Danube, and Central and Eastern Europe routes.
