The acquisition enables Salcef to pursue new contracts on Australia’s east coast and across broader transportation markets.

The Italian-based Salcef Group has signed an agreement to acquire Pilbara Rail Maintenance (PRM), subject to approval from Australia’s Foreign Investment Review Board (FIRB). PRM will continue operating under its existing brand and management, led by founder Chris Prior, while becoming part of Salcef’s global industrial network.

PRM specialises in rail maintenance and construction across Australia and is known for its work in the Pilbara region. Salcef’s acquisition is intended to expand the group’s footprint into the Australian market by combining European manufacturing and engineering expertise with PRM’s local workforce and project experience.

Salcef operates eight business units and 18 companies globally, with rail equipment production facilities in Fano and Schieppe, Italy. PRM’s integration into the group is expected to support the introduction of new rail technologies and mechanised maintenance methods to Australian infrastructure projects.

PRM and Salcef have been cooperating on project development for over a year, and the acquisition replaces an earlier plan to form a joint venture.
