The new intermodal rail link between Interporto della Toscana Centrale and Terminal Darsena Toscana has been opened. The project is the result of collaboration between Gruppo Sanpellegrino, Logistica Uno and Logtainer. The aim is to reduce heavy vehicle traffic on Tuscany's main roads by transferring the transport of Acqua Panna between Prato and Livorno to rail.
Antonio Napolitano, Managing Director of Interporto della Toscana Centrale, emphasized the importance of the project. "This initiative has finally become a reality, making Interporto della Toscana Centrale a key player. We made this effort with conviction to provide an essential service to Tuscany and significantly contribute to CO2 reduction,“ he said,
The new rail link is expected to improve the efficiency and sustainability of logistics in the region. It will provide a more environmentally friendly alternative to road transport. This development is in line with the wider objectives of reducing the carbon footprint and improving the environmental performance of logistics operations.
