The launch of the TransFER Munich-Curtici and TransFER Curtici-Tekirdag routes and the strengthening of the TransFER Genk-Curtici connection will strengthen the transport links between Europe and Asia.

ÖBB's Rail Cargo Group (RCG) has announced the launch of new freight routes to Turkey and the expansion of existing services. RCG is thus improving its network for its customers with better connections to Turkey, an important freight hub for transport between Europe and Asia.

The newly introduced TransFER Munich-Curtici and TransFER Curtici-Tekirdag services, together with the expansion of the TransFER Genk-Curtici route from three to five round trips per week, mark a significant improvement in the transport infrastructure. In particular, the Curtici-Tekirdag connection now operates five weekly round trips, replacing the previous route to Istanbul with a direct link to the port of Tekirdag. The move aims to stream traffic flows between Western Europe and Turkey, using Curtici as a gateway.

RCG's established routes, including TransFER Budapest-Istanbul with four weekly round trips and TransFER Bratislava-Istanbul with one weekly round trip, will continue to provide freight services.

In addition, RCG's introduction of a direct weekly round trip from Munich to Curtici provides the first link between southern Germany and Curtici, further enhancing the logistical options available to customers. This initiative is complemented by a pilot project to transport non-craneable semi-trailers by rail, expanding the range of freight that can be moved efficiently on these routes.
