Northrail has begun an extensive test programme for its Modula-EBB locomotives to verify dynamic performance and compliance with European and national requirements.
Testing covers dynamic braking trials and fatigue tests to assess the long-term strength of the bogie frame. Engineers are also conducting torsion measurements to analyse torque at the wheelsets, as well as multiple-unit operations to evaluate pantograph behaviour under operating conditions.
The results will be assessed by independent testing and certification bodies. Vossloh Rolling Stock will compile the documentation and submit the approval application, followed by type authorisation and individual vehicle approvals for Germany and the Netherlands.
The process is intended to demonstrate compliance with the EU Technical Specifications for Interoperability (TSI) and national requirements in both countries.
