Modernization project includes installation of interlocking systems with ETCS Level 1 Full Supervision to improve communication between track and train.

Hitachi Rail has signed a framework agreement with Société Nationale des Chemins de Fer Luxembourgeois (CFL), for the design and delivery of digital signalling of Bettembourg and Dudelange stations on the Luxembourg railway network.

This agreement with the Luxembourg national railway company is the latest milestone in a long-term partnership with Hitachi Rail for the modernization of the country's railway infrastructure. Under the framework, Hitachi Rail will be responsible for the design, engineering, supply, installation, and commissioning of interlocking systems with ETCS Level 1 Full Supervision and simplified trackside light signalling to modernise Bettembourg and Dudelange stations on the Luxembourg railway network. The new signalling system will improve reliability while safely increasing track capacity by enabling digital communication between track and train.

"We look forward to continuing our close collaboration with CFL and working together to set new standards that offer our customers and partners real added value. Our digital signalling solutions will help to increase reliability and capacity for passengers using the Bettembourg and Dudelange stations in Luxembourg,“ commented Markus Fritz, Chief Operating Officer for Germany, Hitachi Rail.
