The delivery is expected in September 2025.

HHPI (Heavy Haul Power International) has signed a leasing contract with European Loc Pool (ELP) for another EuroDual locomotive. This addition brings HHPI’s EuroDual fleet to nine units.

The fleet expansion follows HHPI’s shift away from earlier diesel models such as the Class 66. EuroDual locomotives now serve as the primary traction for the company’s block train concept, where fixed sets of wagons and locomotives operate as a closed unit. This setup reduces the need for additional traction changes along routes.

The cooperation between HHPI and ELP includes full-service leasing. ELP handles maintenance and servicing, while HHPI retains operational focus. The leasing structure supports HHPI’s approach to logistics management, particularly for bulk cargoes including construction materials, and timber.

The addition of the ninth EuroDual locomotive continues the working relationship between both companies, which began with HHPI among ELP’s earliest customers. The current deal follows a standard model in which long-term access to traction is paired with service support.

HHPI continues to utilize this traction class to service bulk logistics across regional and cross-border freight corridors.

No additional specifications or delivery details were disclosed beyond the scheduled handover in September 2025. HHPI remains active in Germany’s private rail freight market, focusing on medium- to long-distance contracts for high-volume industrial cargo.
