GATX Corporation has acquired 156 locomotives from Progress Rail Services, increasing its North American locomotive fleet to over 650 units.

GATX, headquartered in Chicago, is a global leader in railcar leasing, with a history dating back to 1898. The company operates across various regions, with North America being a key market. GATX is publicly traded on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) under the ticker symbol "GATX" and is known for its extensive portfolio of rail assets, which includes a significant number of locomotives and wagons. In Europe, it operates in wagons leasing under Vienna-headquartered GATX Rail Europe.

The recent addition to the North Americal fleet will complement the existing locomotive types at GATX:

GATX's North American operations focus on leasing these locomotives to railroads and industries, supporting their transportation needs. The company’s locomotive group also engages in the buying, selling, and trading of locomotives.
