East Midlands Railway (EMR) has unveiled the initial conceptual images of the planned refurbishments for its Class 170 and Class 158 trains. The EUR 33.55 million project aims to improve comfort and facilities for passengers across its regional services.
The Class 170 trains, which operate routes including Matlock to Derby and Nottingham, Newark Castle to Crewe, and Nottingham to Skegness, will undergo significant upgrades. These trains, acquired from various operators, will receive new seat foams and covers, an extensive refresh, new passenger information systems, and CCTV installations.
The Class 158 fleet, primarily serving the Liverpool to Norwich route via Nottingham, Manchester, and Sheffield, will also see improvements. These upgrades will include new seat covers and foams, an interior refresh, and CCTV enhancements. The released images offer a glimpse into what passengers can expect from these updates.
