New Meter-Gauge Trains from CRRC to Modernize Malaysia's Rail Network

New units for Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhadare (KTMB) are known as ETS3.

CRRC Zhuzhou Locomotive has unveiled the latest meter-gauge trains designed for Malaysia. This third generation, known as the ETS3, will soon be operational on the West Coast of Peninsular Malaysia, covering a route approximately 950 kilometers long.

The ETS3 units are engineered to enhance passenger capacity and operational efficiency. These trains are built specifically for Malaysia's meter-gauge system, continuing CRRC's commitment to upgrading the country's rail transport. They come equipped with modern technologies aimed at providing a smoother and more efficient service.

New units will handle higher passenger volumes and offer better performance on the tracks, aligning with Malaysia’s goals for a modernized rail system.

Malaysia’s West Coast rail line, stretching from the Thai border to Singapore, is a key part of the nation’s transportation infrastructure. The network spans 1,776 kilometers and operates on meter-gauge tracks.
