METRANS has reached the final stage of its terminal expansion in Gądki near Poznań, Poland. Two electric rail-mounted gantry cranes are now being lifted and installed at the terminal. The cranes are equipped with Remote Operation System technology.
Construction is around 90% complete. The 750-metre rail tracks for train unloading have been completed, along with most yard surfaces, internal terminal roads and the crane track.
METRANS has also installed camera gates at the truck entry and exit points and at the rail gate. Railway and container scales have been installed and commissioned.
The expansion is intended to increase handling capacity and improve train, truck and container flows at the Gądki terminal. The site serves one of Poland’s main logistics regions near Poznań.
The project, formally titled “Improving the efficiency of intermodal transport services through the expansion of the METRANS (Polonia) sp. z o.o. terminal infrastructure in Gądki near Poznań”, is co-financed by Poland’s National Recovery and Resilience Plan, KPO.
