The first movement covered oversized sheet metal products from the Port of Constanța to Perechyn station in direct traffic.

UZ Cargo Poland, in partnership with the CTS “Liski” branch of JSC Ukrzaliznytsia, has launched a regular rail service between Romania and Ukraine.

The service operates via the Halmeu (RO) and Diakovo (UA) border crossings, providing routing options between Romanian Black Sea ports and western Ukraine. Perechyn station is in the Zakarpattia region near the Slovak border.

The transport uses 60-foot flat (fitting) platforms capable of carrying containers as well as rolled metal and coil steel. For the Constanța shipment, the platforms were dispatched from Chop-Liski station and transferred from 1,520 mm gauge bogies to 1,435 mm gauge bogies to enable cross-border operation without transloading.

According to the companies, the bogie exchange under loaded wagons takes several hours, compared with the longer process required to reload cargo at the Romania–Ukraine border. The approach removes the need to unfasten and re-secure the cargo and avoids additional securing materials.
