This approval, in combination with the Railway Company License obtained by COMSA earlier in 2024, permits the company to conduct rail freight transport services across the General Interest Railway Network (RFIG) in Spain.
The certificate confirms the presence of a safety management system that meets the required standards in several key areas. These include railway traffic safety control systems, operational procedures, staff competence related to traffic safety, rolling stock technical specifications, and maintenance practices.
COMSA has invested EUR 40 million over the past five years to renew and upgrade its fleet of railway machinery. The certification allows the company to manage the movement of its machinery between worksites across the Spanish rail network.
The Single Safety Certificate is a regulatory requirement under European Union law for railway companies operating cross-border or within national markets, intended to demonstrate compliance with safety obligations for freight transport services.
