The declaration refers to contracts of around 15 years’ duration awarded three to four years before service start.

RegioJet could order up to 200 electric multiple units for the Polish market if long-term public service contracts are awarded under open tender procedures, the operator has stated.

The operator linked the potential investment to market liberalisation and competitive tendering, arguing that non-discriminatory procedures would enable large-scale private fleet financing without reliance on EU funds.

RegioJet currently has 18 EMUs on order from PESA Bydgoszcz, comprising 11 four-car units with 300 seats and seven three-car units with 200 seats. These trains are designed for operation at up to 200 km/h and for certification in the Czech Republic, Poland and Slovakia, equipped with ETCS and national train protection systems.
