Akiem is strengthening its position in France through new maintenance and leasing agreements.

Akiem has signed a national maintenance agreement with Technis covering preventive and corrective maintenance for Prima BB27000 and BB37000 electric locomotives in France, according to the lessor. The agreement applies to Technis workshops in Lens, Dijon and Thionville and supports locomotives operating primarily on the Luxembourg–south-east France corridor.

The scope includes scheduled preventive maintenance at 30,000 km and 150,000 km intervals, as well as corrective maintenance for the BB27000 and BB37000 fleets. Technis will also carry out pantograph bow replacements, either in its workshops or at first-level maintenance sites including Le Havre, Modane, Miramas, Perpignan and Bayonne, as well as on-site interventions in locations such as Mouguerre.

Akiem said the agreement completes the geographical coverage of its Akiem Maintenance and Services France network for locomotives running between Luxembourg and south-east France. The arrangement also allows for the development of additional capabilities, including mid-life overhaul activities, with a specific focus on air tank work.

Technis operates several rail maintenance facilities in France and provides maintenance services for freight and passenger rolling stock, including electric locomotives.

Akiem also confirmed the continuation of its long-term relationship with Naviland Cargo through a new seven-year full-service contract covering 14 BB 27000 electric locomotives. The agreement follows an initial full-service contract signed ten years ago and involves maintenance support from Akiem Maintenance & Services France, including the Ostricourt workshop. The BB 27000/37000 fleet, which exceeds 140 locomotives within Akiem’s portfolio, is used primarily for intermodal freight operations.
