Another contract for the delivery of new EMUs from Newag has been signed in Gdańsk.

The deal, concluded between the Pomorskie Voivodeship and Newag, concerns the supply of two Impuls 2 units of the Class 58WE. The contract also includes an option for up to ten more trainsets of the same type.

The two EMUs are scheduled to be delivered within 42 months from the date of signing. Should the regional authority exercise the option, a separate delivery schedule will be agreed, with a deadline for completion set for 30 November 2029.

According to Newag, the 58WE model is designed for high-frequency urban and regional traffic. The vehicles feature three doors per car (nine per side in total), intended to optimise boarding and alighting flows during peak hours. The EMUs are also compliant with EU interoperability standards and adapted for passengers with reduced mobility.

The Pomeranian region has so far ordered 20 units of the 58WE model from Newag. The EMUs have previously been tested in the Tricity area, including on routes operated by PKP SKM.
