The locomotives were officially handed over at Newag’s production facility in Nowy Sącz.

Two multisystem Dragon 2 locomotives produced by Polish manufacturer Newag have been delivered to leasing company Akiem and are now in operation with Slovak freight operator Budamar Logistics. These are the first from 30 locomotives ordered by the leasing company.

The handover follows a framework agreement signed between Akiem and Budamar during the InnoTrans trade fair in Berlin six months ago. Based on that framework, a leasing contract was concluded for the six-axle Dragon 2 electric locomotives designed for cross-border freight services.

Both locomotives are configured as multisystem units and will be used on routes in Poland, the Czech Republic, and Slovakia. The units are equipped for heavy freight applications and will be maintained under ECM (Entity in Charge of Maintenance) arrangements by Newag.

The Dragon 2 is the latest generation of Newag’s heavy-duty electric locomotives, manufactured at the company's site in southern Poland. With this delivery, the locomotives become part of Akiem’s fleet portfolio, available for leasing to operators across Central Europe.
