Netzwerkbahn Sachsen GmbH (NeS) is expanding its fleet with a third EuroDual locomotive from European Loc Pool (ELP). This addition comes as part of a 10-year full-service leasing agreement.
NeS, based in Dresden, focuses on transporting goods such as wood, mineral oil, and cars. The EuroDual locomotive, known for its performance in both diesel and electric modes, fits well with the company’s operational needs. NeS currently operates one EuroDual, with a second expected later this year, and the contract for the third has recently been signed.
The EuroDual's reliability is notable, maintaining over 95% uptime. Its design minimizes the need for frequent workshop visits, with maintenance intervals of 50,000 kilometers. This results in fewer preventative maintenance events and reduced corrective failures, translating to more operational days and cost savings.
NeS Managing Director Felix Hils has highlighted the locomotive's efficiency and suitability for transporting heavy trains across remote connections. The EuroDual's flexibility, speed, reliability, and safety align with NeS's focus on delivering efficient transport solutions.
ELP's Chief Commercial Officer, Emiel Knarren, notes that the EuroDual’s performance in both diesel and electric modes makes it ideal for nationwide spot traffic operations. Its high tractive effort and up to 40% higher loading capacity make it a versatile option for companies with similar operational demands.
NeS’s first EuroDual has been operational since July 2023, the second is expected in Q4 2024, and the third is scheduled for delivery in Q2 2025.
