DB InfraGO will reopen the Hamburg–Berlin corridor on 14 June after completing major renewal works on one of Germany’s busiest intercity routes.

Rail traffic between Hamburg and Berlin will resume throughout the full corridor on 14 June, ending the replacement bus services introduced during the major route renewal.

From that date, all regional services will again operate according to the regular timetable. Capacity for freight traffic between Hamburg and Berlin, as well as on the access routes, will also be fully restored.

Long-distance services will return as well, although DB InfraGO will make minor timetable adjustments until 30 June. These are linked to final approval and load testing of new signalling and interlocking technology between Hagenow Land and Berlin-Spandau.

According to DB InfraGO, all planned long-distance trains will operate with full capacity. However, temporary speed restrictions will still be required on some sections during the first days after reopening, affecting only long-distance trains.

The infrastructure works on the corridor have been completed. Since 1 August 2025, DB InfraGO has renewed 165 kilometres of track, 249 switches, seven new crossovers, 678 signals and 25 platforms on the Hamburg–Berlin line.

Modernisation works were also carried out at 28 stations along the route. After reopening, some remaining works will continue at selected stations because weather-related restrictions earlier in the year prevented their completion on time.

As a result, platforms at Müssen, Nauen, Falkensee and Albrechtshof will temporarily remain either not fully accessible or accessible only with restrictions. At Nauen, Falkensee and Albrechtshof, passengers with reduced mobility are asked to contact the mobility service centre for an individual travel solution.

DB InfraGO says it is working to complete the remaining station works as quickly as possible.
