Zabrze will gain a modern intermodal terminal. CLIP Terminals has signed a contract with the TorKol consortium (the lead contractor), Poleko Budownictwo and GFS Engineering to implement the project at a cost of €27.5 million.

The investment, which is co-financed by the National Reconstruction Plan (KPO), is due to be completed by 30 June 2026. It will strengthen the potential of the EU-Ukraine transport corridor.

Modern transhipment base with an extensive track system

The project will include the construction of transhipment infrastructure and the modernisation of the track system.

Modernising the track infrastructure will increase the facility's capacity. Construction of the new terminal responds to the growing needs of the regional logistics sector and will improve the flow of goods through the strategic corridor connecting the European Union with Ukraine. The project will be implemented on a 'design and build' basis.

"Signing this agreement is another step towards implementing our strategy for developing intermodal infrastructure in Poland. The Zabrze terminal will be one of the most modern facilities in the region, enabling the handling of the growing volume of transport between the EU and Ukraine. Thanks to the support of the National Reconstruction Plan, this investment will boost the competitiveness of Polish logistics on the European market," said Agnieszka Hipś, President of the Management Board of CLIP Group.

Boost for Upper Silesia

The investment will bring economic benefits to the entire region. A large number of jobs will be created during the construction phase, and the subsequent operation of the facility will provide permanent employment. The terminal will also increase the attractiveness of Upper Silesia as a logistics centre, supporting the development of local companies and attracting foreign investors. Zabrze will become an important hub on the east-west route.
