The site adds a new access point to DB Cargo’s Automotive RailNet and has been in operation since January 2026.

DB Cargo Automotive and logistics company Große-Vehne have opened a new rail-road transhipment terminal in Kecskemét, Hungary.

The terminal is located about 7 km from a major automotive manufacturing plant, allowing short road distances for final delivery. Trailers are transported daily by rail from Kornwestheim in Germany to Kecskemét, where they are transferred between rail wagons and trucks using a reach stacker. DB Cargo Automotive manages the entire door-to-door chain, combining the long-distance rail leg with local road distribution.

The Kecskemét facility already had a rail connection and a covered handling hall. DB Cargo Automotive and Große-Vehne upgraded the terminal for current traffic, adjusted loading procedures and carried out test operations to stabilise the intermodal flows.

The partners plan to add a second reach stacker to increase handling capacity and provide operational backup. The additional equipment would also allow the terminal to handle further volumes, including potential battery transports.

With the new hub, DB Cargo Automotive strengthens its network connections to South-East Europe. The Kecskemét site is available not only for existing automotive flows but also for other customers requiring intermodal or conventional rail services.
