Freightliner Group has introduced its ECO90 booking service, a new way to reduce carbon emissions for individual container shipments.
The ECO90 service allows businesses to choose a more sustainable option for moving single containers across Freightliner’s rail network. This approach is designed to give companies, regardless of size, the ability to take a more active role in managing their environmental impact. While rail transport is already recognized for being more sustainable than road freight, Freightliner’s new service aims to push these boundaries further.
The service’s carbon reduction is achieved through the use of alternative fuels, which Freightliner asserts are sustainably sourced and fully traceable. Each ECO90 booking comes with documentation verifying the fuel’s origins, ensuring transparency in the supply chain.
In addition to the environmental benefits, Freightliner is offering customers detailed carbon emissions reports for each shipment. These reports, provided through the company’s Omnia system, are intended to assist businesses in their own sustainability reporting efforts.
