A KTZ container train has set a new record by covering a distance of 4,486 kilometers in just five days, significantly improving the framework for freight transport between China, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan. This express delivery service is a direct result of the agreements reached between the Presidents of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan in Khiva in April, aimed at organizing and optimizing the transport of goods along the China-Kazakhstan-Uzbekistan route and the development of the Trans-Afghan corridor.
The journey started at the Kazakh-Chinese terminal in the port of Xi'an. The containers were loaded there. The cargo was then transhipped at the KTZE Khorgos Gateway dry port. The train then traveled along the Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ) network to the border station of Saryagash. Tashkent station, a key transport hub in Central Asia, was the train's final destination.
The development of an optimized line using the railways' assets is expected to significantly increase transport and logistics capacity and deepen the Kazakh-Uzbek partnership. Recent reconstruction work and technological improvements have increased the capacity of the Saryagash station by 50 percent, improving the efficiency of the primary flow of goods between the two countries.
