POLREGIO has selected PESA Bydgoszcz as the preferred bidder in a tender for 22 electric multiple units, with a gross offer of PLN 968.7m (approximately EUR 225m).
The tender was launched at the end of January 2026 and attracted bids from PESA Bydgoszcz and Newag. The contract will be signed once formal procedures are completed. PESA will have 35 months from contract signature to deliver the first six EMUs.
The new trains will have a maximum speed of at least 160 km/h and will be equipped with air conditioning, passenger information systems and onboard CCTV. The units will be fully accessible and fitted with bicycle spaces, Wi-Fi, 230V power sockets and USB ports.
The EMUs are intended for metropolitan and inter-regional services. The project is applying for co-financing under the EU’s European Funds for Infrastructure, Climate and Environment (FEnIKS) programme, with final fleet allocation dependent on funding decisions and operational demand.
