Rail Operations Group (ROG) has signed a two-year agreement with Direct Rail Services (DRS) for the storage and maintenance of its Class 93 locomotives at the Gresty Bridge depot in Crewe.

Under the agreement, DRS will provide storage, servicing and maintenance through its engineering teams at Gresty Bridge. DRS has operated and maintained Stadler-built Class 68 and Class 88 locomotives for more than a decade and will apply that experience to the tri-mode Class 93 fleet.

The Class 93, manufactured by Stadler, is a mixed-traffic locomotive equipped with AC electric, diesel and battery power modules. It builds on the Class 68 and Class 88 platforms, adding battery capability and higher performance under electric traction.

DRS is part of Nuclear Transport Solutions. Gresty Bridge in Crewe serves as one of its principal maintenance facilities for Stadler locomotives in the UK.
