A new rail service between Voutré (Mayenne) and Gennevilliers has been operational since April 2025.

Operated by Carrières de l’Ouest, the link responds to the logistics needs of construction works associated with the Greater Paris project. The route complements the existing rail connection to Bonneuil-sur-Marne.

Weekly container traffic for bulk aggregates

Each week, a train consisting of 50 containers moves 1,500 tonnes of bulk construction materials from quarries in Voutré to the multimodal terminal in Gennevilliers, where Paris Terminal handles unloading operations. The cargo is intended for the supply of various Grand Paris job sites and is distributed the following day.

The same containers return to Mayenne filled with construction debris or other types of cargo.

Temporary operation until November 2025

The Gennevilliers connection is scheduled to continue until November 2025. It is part of the operator’s extended network strategy, following the earlier establishment of combined flows toward Bonneuil-sur-Marne.

In parallel, rail freight volume from Voutré toward Bonneuil reached 960,000 tonnes in 2024, doubling the 2023 total. This result was enabled by the implementation of the Voutré Double Fret initiative.

The development supports the ongoing modal shift of construction-related freight flows in the Île-de-France region.
