The motors will power hydraulic units on the new generation of Plasser MultiCrafter 15.4 E³ track maintenance vehicles, a development of the OBW 100 series. The vehicles are being equipped with snow blower attachments developed for ÖBB-Infrastruktur and are undergoing final outfitting at Plasser & Theurer before entering service.
The TME 42-32-4 motor provides 360 kW continuous output and up to 575 kW peak output. It is designed for operation in sub-zero temperatures and severe winter conditions, with a waterproof electrical configuration to prevent ingress of snow and moisture.
TSA, based in Wiener Neudorf, Austria, and Plasser & Theurer have cooperated since 2015. According to the companies, more than 200 motors and generators have been delivered to the Linz-based track maintenance machinery manufacturer under previous projects.
