Siemens Mobility is currently supplying České dráhy (ČD) with the first Vectron high-speed locomotives, which have a maximum operating speed of 230 km/h.

The first eight locomotives are expected to arrive by the end of September, with a further 12 due to arrive by the end of the year. ČD' operational and service staff are now undergoing training on the new locomotives, which will feature special corporate livery.

"We have had modern European Vectron locomotives from Siemens in our fleet for several years, and we currently operate 61 of them. We are now starting to take delivery of the next generation, which has a maximum speed of 230 km/h. Czech Railways will be the first carrier in the world to have these high-speed Vectrons in its fleet. We expect the new 230 km/h Vectrons, which will be designated the 384 series in our country, to be at the forefront of the most modern ComfortJet and Railjet trains," says Michal Krapinec, Chairman of the Board of Directors and CEO of České dráhy.

České dráhy has ordered a total of 50 high-speed locomotives. The first 20 will be in service by the end of this year, with all deliveries completed by the end of 2026. The carrier plans to use them primarily on prestigious international long-distance routes to Germany, Austria, Denmark and Hungary, where sections of track with speeds of 200 km/h or more are in operation or under construction. They will also be deployed on the first sections of Czech high-speed lines in the future.

"The Siemens Vectron multi-system locomotives with a maximum speed of 230 km/h represent the cutting edge of technology in the field of interoperable rail transport. They are suitable for operation on conventional and high-speed lines across Europe, and we are proud that the first locomotives capable of this speed will be in the fleet of a Czech customer. We will deliver a total of 20 locomotives to Czech Railways by the end of the year, with one leaving the production plant in Munich every week from January 2026," said Roman Kokšal, CEO of Siemens Mobility Czech Republic.

The locomotives for České dráhy are manufactured at the Siemens Mobility plant in Munich-Allach.
