Škoda Group has completed the modernisation of six couchette coaches from the Austrian Federal Railways’ (ÖBB) Nightjet fleet.
The scope of work focused on updating interiors to align with ÖBB’s operational requirements for overnight international services. All six vehicles underwent interior refits at Šumperk, where Škoda Group has previously carried out various maintenance and modernisation tasks for different rolling stock types.
ÖBB continues to invest in overnight passenger services connecting Austria with other European countries. The refurbished couchette cars are intended for deployment across the Nightjet network, which includes cross-border routes.
Škoda Group has been involved in rolling stock service activities in the Czech Republic, including mid-life refurbishments and targeted upgrades. The company’s site in Šumperk is equipped to handle projects involving interior reconfiguration, systems updates, and other modernisation tasks for coaches in service across Europe.
