The Board of Directors of České dráhy (ČD), acting as the General Meeting of ČD Cargo, has accepted Tomáš Tóth's resignation from his positions as Chairman of the Board of Directors and CEO of ČD Cargo for serious personal reasons. The resignation is effective from 31 October 2025.
"At the end of my five-year term of office, I have decided to resign from my positions as Chairman of the Board of Directors and Executive Director of ČD Cargo. I am resigning for serious personal reasons, as I am no longer able to devote the same amount of attention and time to ČD Cargo as I have done so far. I would like to thank all our business partners and colleagues for their cooperation. The company is now stable and has taken further steps to restructure in order to ensure its long-term prosperity," said Tomáš Tóth upon announcing his resignation.
Until a new Chairman of the Board of Directors of ČD Cargo is appointed, the company will be managed by the current members of the Board of Directors, Robert Heděnec and Martin Svojanovský. The company's day-to-day operations and strategic tasks will continue without restriction.

The rail freight transport sector across Europe is in a deep crisis caused by rapid changes in the energy and industrial sectors, the consequences of which we are now experiencing first-hand in the rail sector. ČD Cargo is currently undergoing extensive restructuring, and the main task of the new management will be to ensure its successful completion in the coming period, as well as guaranteeing the long-term sustainability and profitability of ČD Cargo's business," says Michal Krapinec, Chairman of the Board of Directors and CEO of České dráhy, commenting on the current situation at ČD Cargo.
